
Northgate completed the acquisition of Young-Davidson in November 2005 for $18 million and represents Northgate's first significant diversification beyond the Kemess Camp.
The acquisition is consistent with Northgate's strategic growth plan with the following attributes:
- Late stage exploration development property
- Politically stable jurisdiction in the Americas
- Gold as primary metal
- Acquisition at a reasonable price
- Project diversification
Location and Project Overview
Young-Davidson is located in Matachewan, Ontario, approximately 60 km west of Kirkland Lake. The property consists of contiguous mineral leases and claims totaling 11,000 acres and is situated on the site of two past producing mines.
- 2.34 million ounces of total gold resources;

- 1.42 million ounces of underground indicated resources
- Excellent infrastructure and community history of mining
- Deposit geometry and stable ground conditions support low cost bulk mining
- Simple metallurgy and high gold recovery
- Targetting a 10 year+ mine with annual production of 150,000 ounces – 200,000 ounces per year at a cash cost of $350 per ounce
